Miranda Lambert Slams Chris Brown, 'Not Okay To Be Celebrated' After Rihanna Assault
The Miranda Lambert-Chris Brown feud may have just been re-ignited after she slammed the R&B singer in an interview for the latest cover of Redbook magazine..
After tweeting that it was "not cool" for music fans to act as if "didn't happen" (referring to Brown's assault on Rihanna in 2009), the 29-year-old country singer says that being the "loudmouth" that she is, she had to "say something."
"I didn't feel right about not saying something," Lambert told Red Book. "The loudmouth that I am, I say what I think. I wanted everyone to know that I don't agree with the message it's sending to young women. It's not okay. At all. To be celebrated after doing something like that. I don't think it's right, I never will, and I will stand by what I said till the day that I die."
Lambert, who is married to "The Voice" judge Blake Shelton, will likely get flack from Brown's fans considering Rihanna has since forgiven him for the assault and has started dating him again.
Lambert and Brown are both nominated for Grammys this year and are expected to attend the ceremony. The 2013 Grammys will take place in Los Angeles at Staples Center on February 10.
Last year, Brown was criticized on Twitter after he performed and later won Best R&B album. Lambert, reportedly blasted him on Twitter after he won.
"And Chris Brown Twice? I don't get it. He beat on a girl...Not cool that we act like that didn't happen."
Singer Michelle Branch reportedly wrote: ""Trying not to go off on a rant but...Chris Brown...*bites tongue* have we forgiven him?"
Brown reportedly responded to all of his critics in a Twitter tirade:
"Strange how we pick and choose who to hate! Let me ask u this," Brown added. "Our society is full of rappers (which I listen to) who have sold drugs (poisoning). But yet we glorify them and imitate everything they do. Then right before the worlds eyes a man shows how he can make a Big mistake and learn from it, but still has to deal with day to day hatred! You guys love to hate!!! But guess what???"
"HATE ALL U WANT BECUZ I GOT A GRAMMY Now! That's the ultimate F**K OFF!"
Brown's tweets were later deleted and his mother, Joyce Brown, who manages him reportedly said he didn't post it.
Redbook magazine's latest issue featuring Lambert arrives on newsstands on Jan. 8.
