'Fifty Shades of Grey' Movie UPDATE: Alexandra Daddario Resurfacing For Anastasia Steele?
Anticipation over who will ultimately be given the role of Anastasia Steele in the movie adaptation of "Fifty Shades of Grey" continues to heat up at an astounding rate.
One of the names that has resurfaced amongst fans is "Texas Chainsaw 3D's" Alexandra Daddario. The 26-year-old recently sat down with Entertainment Weekly to address the "Fifty Shades of Grey" buzz that's been circulating regarding her as a potential Ana.
"I've heard [the rumors]. I don't believe they've started casting. I haven't heard anything about it. But I'm honored that people are throwing my name out for it," she said. "I'm honored that people would think of me for any big role that is talked about a lot. But, yes, I should read the books. I've heard that they are rather risqué..."
Known by many for her starring role in the 2010 fantasy film "Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief," the actress has also done adult-themed television work on NBC's "Parenthood" and USA's "White Collar," amongst other roles.
A comment written by a Books & Review fan of "Fifty Shades" last year summed up the striking resemblance between Daddario and the Steele character.
"I think Alexandra Daddario is the perfect Ana. She has the long brown hair, alabaster skin, blue eyes too big for her face & pouty lips. She has an innocent beauty requiring no makeup & can be played up sexy when need be," said the fan.
At the beginning of the "Fifty Shades of Grey" novels, Steele is described as a 21-year-old virgin who is very quiet. Nonetheless, she eventually agrees to the S&M-crazed billionaire Christian Grey's submissive ways. Judging by the precedent set by the erotica's author E.L. James, the actress playing the female lead would most certainly have to bring an element of sex appeal to the casting table.
