For newbies, however, the six-part revival will serve as a jumping off point of sorts. If you didn't see the first nine seasons, "My Struggle" will quickly help you delve into the world of Mulder, Scully, and their paranormal adventures.
"You know when you see the episode that we take you back through a historical document, a file if you will, of who Mulder and Scully are [and] what they've been through," series creator Chris Carter told io9 following the premiere screening at New York Comic Con. "We take you through...a primer of what the X-Files is and who Mulder and Scully are."

There's a good chance you won't be able to understand many of the references, however. Die-hard viewers have nine seasons worth of inside jokes to reference, and it sounds like the revival will be a tribute to those who have waited 13 years to reunite with their heroes.
"For a new audience, I think the show is accessible, but we really made it for the hardcore fans," Carter cautioned io9.
