The theatrical trailer for Race was released Thursday, giving viewers a taste for what to expect from the sports drama. The film tracks the story of Owens, a track and field star who struggles with racism and oppression while getting ready to compete in the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games.
Saturday Night Live alum Jason Sudeikis is taking one of his first predominately dramatic roles as Larry Snyder, Owens' Ohio State University coach.

The trailer shows Owens rising through the ranks through the guidance of Snyder. He deals with intimidation from white athletes in a time of great segregation and racial tension in the United States. Owens is eventually asked to compete in the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games where he would go on to great success.
Owens says many inspirational quotes in the trailer, including the concepts of black and white don't matter out on the track, all the matters is fast or slow.
Race also stars Jeremy Irons, William Hurt, Carice van Houten, Amanda Crew, Tim Post and Jonathan Aris.
The film is directed by Stephen Hopkins, his first feature since The Reaping in 2007. He is most known for directing Lost in Space and The Life and Death of Peter Sellers.
Race is scheduled for release in theaters on Feb. 19, 2016.
