Miley Cyrus wrote on Twitter about her disgust regarding the social media Twitter trend "cut4bieber" that began this week and has since spread among fans of 18-year-old pop singer Justin Bieber.

Bieber fans started the Twitter trend and are encouraging others to harm themselves as a way to protest recent photos that appear to show the "Beauty and a Beat" singer smoking marijuana. Images of Bieber published online show him holding a roll-up cigarette at a party, which some believed to be a joint. The photos caused controversy because many believe Bieber's actions are not setting a good example for his young fans, and his fans are upset about the rumors about Bieber smoking marijuana.

Among the celebrities that have addressed the issue of the Twitter trend and the abuse it encourages is Cyrus, who posted messages to her followers on Twitter. It began with her retweeting messages of others, such as one by the Twitter user Offical Cancer" who wrote, "#cutforbieber? Cutting is NOT something to joke about. There are people who are actually suffering from self-harm, this is so disrespectful."

She also retweeted a message by actress Evan Rachel Wood: "Am i hearing this right? Are people "cutting" because bieber smoked pot? #wtf?"

Cyrus expressed her feelings on the matter on Jan. 8. She posted, "If people are really saying they are gonna cut themselves cuz Justin Bieber could've smoked some weed the world really is coming to an end!"

"I really hope this cutting s**t is just a bunch of punk ass haters that have nothing better to do & no one out there harming themselves," she added. "If you are... seek help."

In response to the controversial pictures of him that surfaced this week, Bieber wrote on Twitter, "Everyday growing and learning. trying to be better. u get knocked down, u get up... i never want to let any of you down."
