'Call The Midwife' Season 5 News: Premiere Date Gets Announced For Fifth Year [VIDEO]
A premiere date for Call the Midwife Season 5 has finally been announced.
'Call The Midwife' Has 'Power' To Raise Medical Awareness?
On Monday, Carter Matt mentioned that the British drama will return to the United States in the springtime. The premiere for the fifth season is expected to air on Sunday, April 3 on PBS.
There is also supposed to be a Christmas episode set to air sometime this holiday season.
Upcoming Episodes Of 'Call The Midwife' Are Going To Be 'Emotional'
While that's good news to look forward to, the storyline for upcoming episodes remains a mystery. But there's a good chance the series will delve into accurate proficiency on how medicine is used based on a report from News-Medical. Stephen McGann, who plays Dr. Patrick Turner on the series, opened up on how it's important to be careful on how medicine works when it's featured on a popular program.
"In an age where complacency or misinformation regarding the safety and purpose of vaccination threatens the return of previously eradicated contagions, the power of dramas like Call the Midwife to raise medical awareness should not be underestimated," McGann said.
There also might be more science involved with the series based on what McGann pointed out in a report from Science Festival.
"Our popular culture is the way our society 'thinks out loud' about the things it cares about- through drama, journalism, art, politics," the actor said. "Surely science- as one of the key ways that we think about the world- belongs in those places."
