Demi Lovato's Half-Sister Discusses 'How Hard It Is' Dealing With Singer's Busy Schedule

In her new album Confident, the singer has a number of upbeat hits, but there's at least one that comes from an emotional time in her life. The song "Father" is about her own dad, Patrick, someone she had a difficult upbringing with before he died.

"I was very conflicted when he passed because he was abusive," Lovato revealed in a video released on Monday. "He was mean, but he wanted to be a good person, and he wanted to have his family. When my mom married my stepdad he still had this huge heart where he would say, 'I'm so glad Eddie's taking care of you and doing the job that I wish I could do.'"
