'House of Cards' Season 4 Spoilers: Will Frank Run Against A Character Based On Hillary Clinton? [VIDEO]
It would be pretty bold for season 4 of House of Cards to completely ignore the upcoming presidential elections in the storyline.
Doug Stamper To Finally Be Killed Off In Season 4?
It is pretty likely that shades of the current election scenario would play into the script of the next chapter, even though they might not cut too close to the bone. Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) fits more of the Republican profile, thus the questions arises: could his nemesis in season 4 be postured after Hillary?
Shows like The Good Wife have already, rather prematurely, written in Hillary's candidacy in the show. Peter Florrick (Chris Noth) is batting for the Democrat side in the series. We reckon, a powerful female figure might go up against Frank. Could it be Neve Campbell's character -- whom we know nothing about so far -- in season 4?
New Characters To Threaten Frank In Season 4?
Recently a report sourced an interview with Beau Willimon's, in which the showrunner dished about how much of the plot might be inspired be the presidential elections.
This has been a question on many people's minds and various developments and rumors have led fans to believe that there will be some parallels drawn betwen real life and fiction, perhaps even some characters inspired from the candidates running to win the next presidential cycle. Willimon reveales that while there might be similarities they are obviously avoiding portraying real life politics as the timelines of writing for the show wouldn't sync up with the actual elections.
"We're reading the same headlines that you are reading," he said. "But we're not trying to deliberately parralel what's going on in real life. It would be a fool's errand to try because we're writing the season many months before it airs. So if we did that, it would feel really old."
Season 4 of House of Cards will premiere in 2017.
