Lana Del Rey Wants an Apology After NBC News Anchor Suggests She Is Inexperienced
Over the weekend, Lana Del Rey, newly popular indie singer, made her mainstream debut performing two songs on Saturday Night Live. Brian Williams, NBC news anchor sent a scathing e-mail to Gawker, outlining his disappointment in Del Rey's performances. And now, the "Video Games" singer is waiting for Williams to apologize.
During her live performances, many were panning the singer on Twitter. Even actress and sometime musician Juliette Lewis tweeted, “Wow watching this ‘singer’ on SNL is like watching a 12 yearold [sic] in their bedroom when theyre pretending to sing and perform #signofourtimes."
Yet it was Williams who seemed to be the harshest judge of Del Rey's two performances.
In an e-mail to Gawker he suggests, "Brooklyn hippster [sic] Lana Del Rey had one of the worst outings in SNL history last night — booked on the strength of her TWO SONG web EP, the least-experienced musical guest in the show's history, for starters."
Gawker requested a comment from Del Rey to no avail. Her publicist stated, "I'm so sorry but we don't have a comment or quote from Lana. Have you been able to get a comment or quote from Brian Williams?"
It would appear that Team Lana is waiting for an apology from the NBC news anchor.
Meanwhile, Del Rey stands by her performance and has uploaded video of her singing "Video Games" live on SNL to her YouTube account.
