King Kong Skull Island will be filmed in South-east Queensland, which will begin principal photography in early 2016.
According to an ABC report, filming the movie in Queensland is going to create many jobs in the region and bring in a lot of money. Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk spoke to ABC about the benefits of the movie choosing Queensland as a location.
"Kong will spend more than $15 million in Queensland by leveraging our world-class facilities and enlisting cast and crews in all aspects of physical production," she said.
Palaszczuk added that the job creation is also an incentive and locals are being employed for the film. "The production will create 60 local jobs in addition to the Queenslanders who have already been enlisted, with the production manager and art director already confirmed as Queenslanders," she said.
The filming will more specifically take place at Village Roadshow Studios at Oxenford and near the Gold Coast.
The movie will star Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L Jackson, Brie Larson and John Goodman.
