The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) nominated Lady Gaga this morning for an award at their 23rd annual Media Awards. The awards honor members of the mainstream media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and the issues that affect their lives.

She was nominated in the "Most Outstanding Music Artist" category.

Gaga is a vocal activist for gay rights and has tirelessly spoken out on the issue at rallies in the past. Her activism even carries over into her music with lyrics like, "no matter gay, straight or bi/ lesbian, transgendered life/ I'm on the right track, baby/ I was born to survive."

Other noted celebrities that were nominated for GLAAD awards inclue TV personality Anderson Cooper and "Dancing With the Stars" contestant Chaz Bono. The television show "Glee" was nomiated for an award as well.
