‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 12 News: How Will Things Go With Penny Pan Out In The Future With Meredith? [VIDEO]
Last week on Grey's Anatomy things got weird, very emotional and complex!
During the episode, "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?" it was revealed that Dr. Callie Torres' (Sara Ramirez) new girlfriend Penny (Samantha Sloyan) happened to be the doctor that could not save Dr. Derek "McDreamy" Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey) at the dinner party Dr. Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) hosted with Dr. Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone) and Dr. Maggie Pierce (Kelly McCreary).
Plus, the reactions Amelia and Meredith had were far from totally accepting of Penny.

Anyway, it seems like the future dynamics between these three will remain complex.
The show's executive producer Betsy Beers recently told Variety all about the future between them as well as how Dr. Arizona Robbins (Jessica Capshaw) will handle Callie's new love interest.
"I think we can all assume that this is going to be a complicated situation," Beers said in regard to Meredith and Amelia dealing with Penny in their lives, but more so Meredith since Derek was her husband.
"Meredith is dealing with a lot of stuff and she's relatively newly on her feet, and I think this is bound to be a very interesting and complicated thing to watch, as it goes forward," she teased without giving much away.
And so far it seems like Arizona likes Penny, but according to Beers the complicated history Arizona has with Callie will continue to play its part especially as Penny and Callie grow closer.
"Arizona and Callie have a very deep and complicated and interesting relationship, and I think there are always surprises there," Beers revealed.
Grey's Anatomy airs on ABC on Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET.
