As Lamar Odom’s condition continues to improve after being found unconscious earlier this month, it’s been reported that he still needs a kidney transplant after some of his organs failed and one a member of the Kardashian family is said to want to help him, but it’s not as easy as it sounds.

It’s none other than Odom’s brother-in-law and close friend, Rob Kardashian. Kardashian is one of many who have offered up their kidney for the former NBA star. But it’s not known if he is a match just yet.

Still, if he is, the transfer could indeed happen.

“Rob is willing to do whatever it takes to help Lamar recover. If that means donating a kidney then so be it, Rob has a big heart and he’s willing to step up to help his friend," one source said.

The Doctors television series also did a ‘special report’ that aired Tuesday and implied that Kardashian would be willing to give Odom his kidney.

Still, him being a match would only be the first step in the long road for both Kardashian and Odom.

To even “qualify” for a transplant, one has to be drug free, Dr. S Adam Ramin, who is the urologist and medical director of Urology Cancer Specialists in Los Angeles told Hollywood Life Tuesday.

While Odom is recovering now, he was said to have overdosed on cocaine and a Viagra like substance when he discovered.

Ramin said, “You cannot declare yourself drug free a week ago and expect to be placed on the list.”

He added that it could take up to a year.

Kardashin would also have to go through “rigorous testing” to guarantee that there is “enough of immunological match” to give Odom his kidney.

Kardashian was one of the first to speak on Odom’s incident on social media.
