Adele's album "21" scored its 16th week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart yesterday making history as one of the few albums who have surpassed that mark in the past 20 years.

The album has sold 104,000 copies last week, according to Nielsen SoundScan, it's 33rd week of sales above 100,000.

Only five albums have broken that mark in the last 20 years, according to Billboard: Titanic in 1998, "The Bodyguard" soundtrack in 1993, "Ropin the Wind" by Garth Brooks in 1992 and "Some Gave All" by Billy Ray Cyrus in 1992.

In 2006 Adele signed a record contract with XL Recordings. In 2007 she won the Brit Awards "Critics' Choice" and the BBC Sound of 2008 award. "19," her debut album, was released in 2008 to much commercial and critical success in the United Kingdom.

An appearance in the TV Show Saturday Night Live boosted her career in the United States back in 2008.

Adele's album "21" is her second and it has been well received by critics and has surpassed the success of her debut commercially.

"21" has been certified 14 times platinum in the United Kingdom.
