The actress underwent a double mastectomy in 2013 due to a risk of developing breast cancer. And earlier this year, she had her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed. Now in an interview with Today on Monday, Jolie and her husband opened up on what they were going through especially since her mother dealt with cancer for eight years before she died in 2007.
"We had some of the same nurses, come of the same doctors," Jolie said. "So the doctor that did my ovary surgery was my mother's doctor. And apparently my other had said to her, 'Promise me you will take Angie's ovaries out.' So when we kind of got together, we both had a big cry, and she said, 'I promised your mother, and I got to do this.'"

When the actress underwent this procedure, Pitt made it clear that he had no choice but to be there for his wife.
"I was out in France, and Angie called me and I got straight on a plane to return," the movie star hunk said. "Seeing my wife have to be her strongest and knowing that it's the scariest news is terribly moving. And not being there is a horrible feeling."
Jolie then described how the ovarian procedure compares to the double mastectomy.
"I knew the breast would be a bigger surgery and physically changing," she said. "The ovaries is more, your hormones changing and your emotions changing, but it's different. You feel different."
