"I know people have mixed emotions about this petition and I understand why, please understand that this petition was not out of spite or hatred for Raven Symone but merely for the love of my own people," the link says. "As a race I know that we can achieve so much, and I would love to have role models on television fitting of our strength."
Symone caused a lot of controversy in a recent episode of the talk series when she commented on the South Carolina high school student who was dragged across the floor by a police officer after she apparently refused to put her phone away. While Symone said the officer held responsibility, she implied that the student was at fault as well.
"The girl was told multiple times to get off the phone," the co-host reported. "There's not right or reason for him to be doing this type of harm, that's ridiculous. But at the same time, you got to follow the rules in school. First of all, why are there cellphones in school? This shouldn't even be a problem to begin with, and he shouldn't have been acting like that on top of it."
