The Duggar family might have dealt with a lot of changes in their lives this past year, but if there's one thing that has stayed the same for them, it's their strong belief in their faith and their family traditions. And even though her sister Jill had to give birth at a hospital after her son was two weeks late back in April, Jessa still insisted on giving birth to her son this week at home, even though her life might have been at risk.

According to the Daily Mail, family matriarch Michelle Duggar called emergency services after her daughter was bleeding heavily moments after giving birth to her 9lb, 11oz son. Jessa delivered her son at the same home that her brother Josh had two of his children earlier.

The site says that Michelle called 911 and could be heard calmly saying, "Mother is bleeding after birth. We need her to be checked out."

Michelle added, "There was quite a bit of blood when the placenta detached, but uterus is hard now."

After explaining that Jessa was both "alert" and "awake" she struggled to remember her own daughter's age, telling the 911 dispatcher that is 24 years old, when in actuality, she's 23.

Moments later, Michelle updated Jessa's status on the phone by saying, "She's better now, just a lot of blood. She's talking. Her color is good," before the operator instructed her to wrap the afterbirth in a towel for the doctor to examine and make sure it all came out."

As far as the baby, Michelle said that he was doing both "wonderful" and "great." The Duggar family had given no indication that anything went wrong during the birth, insisting that both mother and child are doing fine.

This is the first child for Jessa and her husband, Ben Seewald. The couple will be documenting their married life together along with Jill Duggar and her husband Derick Dillard on their TLC spin-off show, "Jill and Jessa: Still Counting," next month.
