On Sunday, USA Today Weekend Extra posted a report on the song "Perfect" that seemingly implies it could be based on Styles' previous relationship with music icon Taylor Swift. The One Direction singer and his band mate Louis Tomlinson wrote the hit with the meaning that it's "not taking (relationships) too serious and just enjoying what you have on that night."

Some lyrics in the song include, "If you're looking for someone to write your breakup songs about/baby I'm perfect" along with "good girls" gone bad. This could easily be directed towards Swift considering that her songs "Style" and "Out of the Woods" have been speculated to be written about Styles. But no one knows for sure.

When asked about the speculation, Styles said that he doesn't "really read" about it.

"I'm never going to tell someone what it means to them because there's a lot of songs where I feel something completely different from what the writer intended me to feel," he said. "It's obviously funny to see, but it's up to everyone's individual interpretation."

The musician also pointed out how his love songs can be about more than what one is assuming.

"It doesn't always have to be so literal, in that you say, 'This is a love song about a girl I used to see,'" he said. "Not every love song is necessarily about a person. It could be about a place or time or something where it touched you and you feel you can personify that in a song."
