Bill Clinton Photobomb During Kelly Clarkson's Inauguration 2013 Performance Goes Viral [Photo]
Kelly Clarkson performed "My Country Tis of Thee" at President Obama's second inauguration on Monday, Jan. 21, but as she belted the historic song, former President Bill Clinton stuck his head out from his seat and smiled for cameras.
When paparazzi snapped photos of Clinton peering out from behind Clarkson, the image went viral in social media circles, claiming that Clinton had "photo bombed" Clarkson.
"Bill Clinton photo bombed Kelly Clarkson" @BrooklynSpoke captioned the photo on Twitter of the 42nd president of the United States that spread across the web.
Clarkson, 30, was handpicked by the president to sing the song, which she performed before him and thousands at the Capitol Building. Music was provided by the United States Marine Band and Clarkson was dressed stylish for the cold weather in a maroon flared wool coat with a bright purple scarf.
When Clarkson finished, President Obama personally thanked the "American Idol" winner. The 44th president stood up and shook her hand as New York State Sen. Chuck Schumer complimented her performance and said "Wow!"
She was so grateful for the opportunity and she wrote about it on Twitter.
"What an honor to be a part of history! Obama's presence was powerful and his words unforgettable. It's a proud day for America" Clarkson tweeted. Later she joked, "Wow ....I was incredibly nervous and cold ha! I just wanna officially thank President Obama for opening for me haha! Just kidding :)"
Before Clarkson left to get dressed for the evening's festivities, she posted a photo of herself chatting with Beyonce, who sang the national anthem shortly after Clarkson performed.
"Me and B just hangin' out ....don't worry about it, Seriously, God did good. She is so beautiful!" Clarkson captioned the photo of them together.
Clarkson initially endorsed Ron Paul in the presidential election but publicly switched parties and eventually voted for Obama in November.
"I'm not really down with Mitt Romney's ideals for throwing women back to the '50s. I'm for gay rights. I'm for anyone's rights. I'm for gay rights, heterosexual rights, purple people's rights," Clarkson told MTV News.
