Adele might be one of the most popular chart toppers on the scene right now, but apparently people think she's nuts. And that's not because of her music, but because she took such a long break to record her latest album. In fact, the British beauty herself says that many of her friends in the industry told her she was "mad" for taking a four-year vacation.

According to Xpose on Sunday, the "Hello" hit-maker says that even though she believes taking a break was the right thing to do, others thought it would destroy her career.

She states, "I know some people thought I was mad for taking a break. Even I can see it was a bit weird. But I'm glad it happened. I think it was the right thing. It slowed everything down.''

Adele also admits that there was one motivating factor to get her back into the recording studio, and no, it had nothing to do with her fame or her awards. Instead, she says it all has to do with her 3-year-old son, Angelo.

She explained, "Um. My son. I felt so mega having given birth; the confidence from that, I felt unstoppable. I'm sure most women feel that ... Towards the end of the '21' stuff, I couldn't remember why I was doing it any more. I couldn't answer the question: 'Why am I halfway around the world? On my own?' But then, after I had my son, I thought, 'Yeah, that's why I did it all.' I felt proud of what I'd achieved with '21' for the first time."

Adele added, "And now everything I do, in every channel of my life, is part of a legacy that I'm making for my child. For my children, if I have more. I'm not motivated by much, certainly not by money - but I'm motivated by that. I want my child to see his mum running a proper business again. Being a boss again. Hopefully smashing it again.''
