ABC's Once Upon a Time may have received a lot of press when it was revealed they would be exploring a same-sex relationship in season 5, but they aren't drawing attention to it.

Is Ming-Na Wen A Fan Of 'Once Upon a Time's Take On Mulan?

Once Upon a Time fans have been guessing who the same-sex relationship will involve since the news was spread, but co-creators Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz aren't saying much about it.

Kitsis and Horowitz spoke with Entertainment Weekly about their desire to have this relationship seem like any other relationship on the show.

When Will 'Once Upon a Time' Return After Its Extended Hiatus?

"We'd rather not comment on who it is with or what it is about," Horowitz said. "Our goal is to make it as we see it in the real world, just as normal and as a part of every day life as it should be."

Kitsis does not want the storyline to have a "very special episode" feeling that puts too much attention on the relationship.

"Our worry is the more the press asks us, the more it's turning into the very special episode of Once, where we have a gay character, as opposed to what we wanted, which was we tell a story of love no different than Snow [Ginnifer Goodwin] and Charming [Josh Dallas] or Hook [Colin O'Donoghue] and Emma [Jennifer Morrison]," Kitsis explained.

Some have speculated that the relationship may be between Mulan (Jamie Chung) and Ruby (Meghan Ory), who just set off on a quest together. But for now, the co-creators won't say a word until it happens, and even then it probably won't be some big dramatic reveal.

Once Upon a Time airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
