'Agents Of SHIELD' Season 3: Midseason Finale Plot Revealed, Coulson & Fitz Take The 'Ultimate Risk' [VIDEO]
Agents of SHIELD's Coulson and Fitz are ready to put it all on the line.
The Marvel series is just weeks away from its three-month winter hiatus, but Coulson's (Clark Gregg) team will pull out all the stops to make sure viewers have something to remember them by. Titled "Maveth," the midseason finale will have enough nerve-wracking twists to satisfy fans and agents alike.
"S.H.I.E.L.D. and Hydra go head-to-head in a battle that will change Coulson's world forever," ABC teased. "While Daisy and her team of Inhumans fight to keep Hydra at bay, Coulson and Fitz take the ultimate risk."
Based on the title, it sounds like the director and the love-struck scientist are ready to take the next step in Will's rescue mission. After all, SHIELD is no longer the only organization interested in pulling someone back through the portal. Thanks to FitzSimmons (Iain de Caestecker and Elizabeth Henstridge) and Gideon Malick (Powers Booth), we now know that Hydra has been sizing up the wormhole for over 100 generations. Clearly they've never employed anyone as competent as the science wonder twins.
Whatever will go down in the finale, Gregg has promised that it will be more shocking than Daisy's Inhuman transformation and Tripp's untimely demise.
"I would say that this midseason finale has two shocking twists and both of them are bigger than anything that happened in last season's midseason finale," Gregg told Entertainment Weekly.
Well, that's terrifyingly ominous. Thanks, Mr. Gregg.
Andrew Garner (Blair Underwood), Malick, Joey Gutierrez (Pablo Raba), and Hydra's Magnito-esque Giyera (Mark Dacascos) will return for "Maveth."
