The pressure was on as Dancing with the Stars entered the first night of the finale. Unfortunately for one couple, the stakes proved to be too high.
Dancing with the Stars bid farewell to Carlos PeneVega and Whitney Carson on Monday night, knocking them out of contention just 24 hours before the presentation of the Mirror Ball trophy. Sadly, it wasn't PeneVega's finale performance that doomed him.
The contestants were charged with performing one learned dance and one freestyle routine. PeneVega scored a perfect 30 for both his foxtrot and his freestyle, but the Big Time Rush star still found himself packing his bags due to his previous scores.

Bindi Irwin and Derek Hough also snagged 30s for their Quickstep and freestyle, as did Nick Carter and Sharna Burgess. Alex Skarlatos and Lindsay Arnold pulled in a 30 for their freestyle, but the couple still failed to nail the rumba.
On Tuesday, the remaining three couples will perform on encore dance before taking on the 24-hour fusion challenge.
