According to OK! magazine, the couple thinks the best way for them to get back to a good place in their relationship is to try and have a second child together, since they were in a good place back when Mendes, 41, was pregnant with their daughter Esmeralda.
"[Ryan] loves the idea of another baby and says their relationship was at its happiest when Eva was pregnant," a source told the magazine.

However, another baby may not be the answer the couple needs, after struggling recently following Gosling reportedly leaning on his La La Land co-star Emma Stone more than Mendes was comfortable with, as it appears that whenever they aren't with their daughter, things are incredibly tense between the couple.
"They're amicable in front of Esmeralda. But once she's tucked into bed, the tensions surface. They spend all their time either arguing or in complete silence," the source said.
This behavior has allegedly caused their loved ones some concern, though the couple is ignoring what everyone's best advice because they genuinely believe another child is the answer to getting their relationship back to where it was before.
"Of course, their friends and family are worried they're rushing into this for the wrong reason, but they both have this belief that it's the best way to get their romance back on track," the source added.
As for why the couple believes it's the perfect fix to their problems? They realize they have things to work out, but their problems have never diminished their feelings for one another.
"They have too much to lose at this point by calling it off, and despite all their problems they do still love each other," an insider said."
