'Love And Hip Hop New York' Season 6 Cast: What You Didn't Know About Mendeecees Harris' Sentence [VIDEO]
More is coming out about Mendeecees Harris' eight year sentence just days ahead of the Love & Hip Hop New York sixth season premiere on VH1.
Bossip claims that on top of the time behind bars, Harris will have to get help for an alleged drug addiction. The federal judge, Frank Geraci, ordered Harris, who married his now wife on live television in May, to complete rehab during his time in jail.
He was given the sentence of 97 months Tuesday after he cooperated with a plea deal. He also has to pay up $170,755 from his earnings on the reality show after being part of a drug ring that brought cocaine and heroin from the Big Apple to the Rochester area in New York.
But he will not be completely out of the water even after his sentence is complete: He’ll have to serve five years of probation.
But there is a small silver lining in all of this.
It looks like Geraci will allow Harris to serve his sentence on the East Coast so that he will be close to his wife, Yandy Smith, and their children.
On top of that, Harris could have gotten a jail sentence of 40 years. But because he did cooperate with authorities, many of those years were knocked off on his behalf.
Meanwhile, the couple is gearing up to star in the show that returns to VH1 on Dec. 14. Harris’ legal woes are expected to be much of his and Smith’s story line.
