Linsay Lohan claimed she had the flu and was too sick to appear in court Wednesday, according to Us Weekly.

Lohan's lawyer Mark Heller submitted paperwork Saturday morning saying the actress' upper respiratory was infected, which would prohibit her from appearing in court. The submitted documents included a doctor's note and a New York Post article about the flu epidemic in New York City, where Lohan lives.

Lohan faced misdemeanor charges from her July 2012 arrest.

However, Lohan caught a late night flight out of John F. Kennedy International Airport Tuesday night for her scheduled court appearance on Wednesday. The singer-actress rushed to Los Angeles with fears that Judge Stephanie Sautner would not grant her wish, according to The Huffington Post.

Prosecutors in Santa Monica, Calif., charged Lohan with falsely telling authorities about driving a sports car that crashed into a dump truck in June, reckless driving and obstructing officers from performing their duties.

Judge Sautner released her from supervised probation but told her to stop partying and to act more mature, according to Fox News. Sources added that he did not respond to Lohan's doctor's note.

"You need to live your life in a more mature way, stop the nightclubbing and focus on your work," Judge Sautner said.

Lohan missed a court appearance in 2010. The judge at the time issued out a warrant for her arrest, but her former attorney Shawn Holley was able to stop the warrant before it was carried out.

Splash News captured pictures of Lohan shopping in SoHo Tuesday before she flew to Los Angeles for her court hearing. In one photo she's caught talking to friend with a cigarette in her hand.

Lohan has two movies scheduled for a 2013 release: "The Canyons" and "InAPPropriate Comedy."
