It's going to be a bumpy ride for Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Felicity's (Emily Bett Rickards) relationship, if Arrow's executive producer Wendy Mericle is to be trusted.

In a recent interview with TVLine Mericle dished about the fate of the duo, highlighting the fact that Oliver's lying about his son to Felicity is going to cause greater damage than anticipated, and that fight is "definitely going to come to a head in the middle of the season."

She went on to allude to a possible secret that might worsen things for the couple.

"True to what we've done on the show, if there's a secret somewhere, it's going to come out, and it's going to have some serious consequences. We're excited about how that's going to change things," she said. Adding that the secret is "really going to raise the stakes and throw some wrenches into the works of their relationship," the EP continues. "We're going to mine that. There'll be some fallout for both of them."

"After the city is attacked again, Oliver (Stephen Amell) makes a bold move against HIVE. Malcolm (John Barrowman) checks in on Thea (Willa Holland) andleaves her with a warning. Things take a horrible turn when Damien Darhk (guest star Neal McDonough) retaliates in a brutal manner at Oliver's mayoral holiday party."

'Dark Waters' will air on December 9 on The CW.
