While Nicki Minaj is topping the charts, her brother has been hit with very serious charges.

Jelani Maraj, 37, was charged with first-degree rape Thursday for allegedly sexually assaulting a 12-year-old.He is currently out on a $100,000 bail, Newsday reported.
Nassau’s district attorney is handling the case as of right now. But they would not comment on any details of the matter from the child’s age to how the matter was brought to light.

Other than that, even though he is the female emcee’s brother, he has managed to steer clear of headlines. The last time he made news was when he wed his longtime girlfriend Jacqueline Robinson on Aug. 22. The ceremony took place at Coral House in Baldwin. Nicki attended and donned an Alexander McQueen dress.
Nicki revealed how close they are when she gave him a shoutout via Instagram and uploaded snapshots from the ceremony.
In one the two were hugged up and she quoted a song from singer Monica.
She wrote in the caption, “I would cross the ocean for u. I would go & bring u the moon. Promise u. For u I will.”
She went on to add, “I love my brother so much man. Can’t believe I cried during his wedding and first dance like a punk. May God bless him and his union. Tonight has been one of my favorite nights of all time. I do anything to see my brothers smile.”
