Scott Weiland Dead: Rock Musician Found Dead At 48, Fans Express 'Sadness' On Twitter Over Loss Of 'Great Talent'
It is a sad day for music fans everywhere as news that Scott Weiland, the former lead singer of bands including Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, has died at the age of 48.
According to a Facebook post on Weiland's page, he passed away in his sleep while on a tour stop in Bloomington, Minn. with his latest band, The Wildabouts. They have canceled their next planned shows.
Weiland's successes were often mitigated in the press because of his long history and drug and alciohol abuse, stints in rehab, and related arrests. According to Fox News, he was arrested in 1995 after he was found carrying crack and heroin, and his issues led to Stone Temple Pilots breaking up in 2003.
The band later reunited in 2008, though it was revealed in 2013 that Weiland had been fired from the band,
Regardless of Weiland's issues over the years, fans are mourning his loss on Twitter and Instagram today, posting touching messages to the singer including prayers for his family, and some of his best lyrics in tribute.
