In a recent interview, Jennifer Lawrence's ex-boyfriend Nicholas Hoult talked about his flourishing career and the difficulty he faced balancing his professional and personal life when dating his "X-Men: First Class" co-star.

Hoult and Lawrence, 22, met on the set of the "X-Men" film in 2011, played lovers in the film and began dating in real life as well. Though they have since broken up, the 23-year-old English actor mentioned his time with Lawrence and his other personal relationships during an interview with The Daily Beast. Hoult said it was difficult to make relationships work for a young actor whose career was only beginning to take off.

"It's tricky because you're all over the place," he said. "We were shooting Mad Max: Fury Road for seven months in Namibia, so you're never really in one place, and when you are, they're strange places that are difficult to get to. I wouldn't change it because you're very fortunate to travel, meet new people, and embark on these new experiences, but it's not great for that side of things."

As far as Lawrence and Hoult reuniting, they might do so on-screen for the franchise's next film - X-Men: Days of Future Past. Not much has been revealed about the movie - aside from casting announcements - and Hoult said at the Warm Bodies premiere that he was "still waiting to hear" if he will return to play mutant Beast.

However, he added that he is confident producers will ask him to be in the future film.

"But it's with Bryan Singer, who directed Jack and the Giant Slayer that I did last year, so I've spoken to him a little bit and he's very excited and I think it's going to be very cool," Hoult said.

Regarding his on-screen relationship with Lawrence's character Mystique: "We'll wait and see how that relationship develops."

"They're going to split between different times a little bit, with the older cast coming back, so we'll have to wait and see," he added.

Hoult's film Warm Bodies came out on Friday. He recently finished filming Max Max: Fury Road opposite Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy.
