Golden Globes Nominations 2016: Amy Schumer, Sylvester Stallone Nominated; 'Carol' Leads With Five Nods [VIDEO]
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association just revealed the official list of nominees for the 73rd annual Golden Globe Awards. America Ferrera, Dennis Quaid, Angela Bassett and Chloe Grace Moretz announced the TV series, films, actors and actresses all set to compete, with the film, Carol seeing a clear advantage after receiving five nominations. The movie, which stars Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara led both the actresses to receive nominations.

The survival drama, The Revenant, biopic Steve Jobs and comedy The Big Short are close behind with four nods each.
As for the actors and actresses in the forefront of the awards night, Will Smith received a nomination for Concussion, Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama. Idris Elba received two nods for Best Actor in a Mini-Series or TV Movie Nominees for Luther and Nightingale. Plus, he also earned a nomination for Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture for Beasts of No Nation.
Who Got Snubbed By This Year's Golden Globes Nominations?
Other nominees include Uzo Aduba, who scored her second Golden Globe nod for Best Supporting Actress in her role as "Crazy Eyes" in Orange is the New Black. Viola Davis and Taraji P. Henson for Best Performance by an Actress in Drama Series in the series, How to Get Away with Murder and Empire, respectively. Eva Green also received a nod for her performance in the British-American horror drama television series, Penny Dreadful.
In terms of television, Variety reports that HBO ends its 14-year streak of receiving the most nods, as Netflix nabs the torch. This tiem, HBO placed No. 2 with seven bids, down from 15 in the 2015 race while Netflix earned eight nominations. Meanwhile, NBC was completely snubbed after receiving zero nominations.
HBO is definitely enduring a kick to the head now that the network has been dethroned. However, it still claimed more series noms than any other outlet, with a drama nod to Game of Thrones and comedy nominations for Veep and Silicon Valley.
This year's Golden Globe nominations just goes to show that there's an increase of competitors all wanting to take a bite of the pie.
