'Fifty Shades of Grey' Movie Casting for Christian Grey: Stephen Amell Once Again A Strong Candidate?
"The Fifty Shades of Grey" movie continues to garner buzz at a seemingly unrealistic level. While the film's big screen debut date has yet to even be released, many female fans are scouring the web for the latest news on just who will play Christian Grey. One of the names that was brought back into the mix as a potential suitor is Arrow's Stephen Amell.
According to the International Business Times, the hunky actor's six-pack along with the rest of his chiseled looks are what makes him a strong suitor.
In his CW hit series, Amell dons the role of a billionaire playboy by day and fights off crime by night fall. To top it off, he even possesses a lot of the attributes that Christian Grey has, including a scarred chest.
Although Amell has yet to pick up a "Fifty Shades" read, he did relay his interest in the potential role of a lifetime to Wet Paint in August.
"I mean if you think about it, it would be four movies, the last part being two parts. I don't even own a house yet. So I don't think that I'd be turning that down any time soon," he said.
While the television star clearly doesn't know the ins and outs of author E.L. James' erotica, he's obviously done his research on the buzz.
Other fan favorites for the Grey role include "Les Miserables" Eddie Redmayne, "Vampire Diaries'" Ian Somerhalder, "Gossip Girl's" Chace Crawford and "Twilight's" Robert Pattinson, among many others.
Up until this point, the producers attached to the film have remained discreet on their casting approach. Early in 2012, Focus Features and Universal Pictures purchased the rights to the "Fifty Shades." The racy novel has now sold well over 60 million copies and the movie is expected to do just as well.
