The series' freshman run traipsed across the Scottish highlands, but when Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) return this spring, their time traveling epic will have a new feel.
"It's exciting, it's a totally different show in a lot of ways from Season 1, but it's still recognizably Outlander," showruner Ron Morre told The Wrap in the wake of the series' three Golden Globe noms.

While viewers know the newlyweds will spend half the season in Paris, the switch from tartan to court attire won't be the only surprise to come out of season 2. As the Jacobite Rising approaches, Jamie and Claire will come in contact with all sorts of historical figures.
"Claire and Jamie are plotting a conspiracy to stop the Jacobite rebellion, so it's a more political show, more historical currents of the time, we look at aristocracy, the court of Louis XV, so visually it's a whole different palette," Moore explained. "It's fattening and gilt and candelabras, just a more rich world. And it's more French and you're dealing with historical figures for the first time."
Come midseason, however, Outlander will transition back to the mist-laden world of Scotland. Though Jamie's world was rife with Redcoats to begin with, the characters will be engaged in a bloodier skirmish upon their return.
Prepare for Outlander to keep marching forward in 2016.
