Amid filming on the seventh season of Teen Mom 2, Messer and Simms, who appeared in court in October, have received a new court date, during which Messer hopes to regain custody of her 6-year-old twin girls, Ali and Aleeah.
“Leah is thrilled she got a court date,” an insider told Radar Online on Wednesday. “She’s been waiting for this opportunity for months.”
As In Touch Weekly revealed in October, Messer lost primary custody during an Oct. 13 hearing after Simms reportedly proved their daughters had been absent or late from school on multiple occassions. However, after the hearing took place, Messer held a meeting with the superintendent of her daughters' school, and reportedly proved her girls had been taken to school on time.
“Leah thinks she has a good chance to get her daughters back,” the source revealed. “She’s optimistic.”
Another second source, who confirmed a hearing set for January, added, “she’s trying to get custody back to what it was” before the October court date.
Meanwhile, Messer has retained primary custody of her daughter Adalynn, 2, whose father is Messer's second husband, Jeremy Calvert.
