For a film that's been anticipated for years, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is definitely doing the franchise justice after making $57-M on its opening night Thursday, easily beating the $43.5-M record made by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 back in 2011.

According to LA Times, box office analysts were previously expecting the J.J. Abrams film to gross anywhere between $180-M to $220-M through Sunday during its domestic opening. However by the looks of it, those estimates are modest. Experts say it can easily hit the $260-M by the weekend.

Analysts are confident that it will surpass the record of Jurassic World, which grossed $209-M during its June opening.
