Amal Clooney News: George Clooney’s Wife Using Her Celebrity Status To Help Those In The Middle East [VIDEO]
It looks like Amal Clooney is fast becoming the new Angelina Jolie of the celebrity world. There's a new report that says the International Human Rights Lawyer is launching a scholarship program to help girls in her native Lebanon go to college. In fact, it looks like Amal is using her new celebrity status to help those he need it in the Middle East.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Amal, who is married to Hollywood hunk George Clooney, has partnered up with 100 Lives, a global initiative to help bring attention to the Armenian genocide, to launch the Amal Clooney Scholarship. The program will send college students from Lebanon to United World College in Armenia so she can attend a two-year international baccalaureate program.
"This scholarship will give young women from Lebanon the opportunity of a lifetime," Amal said in a statement. "Cross-cultural learning and studying abroad can be transformative. I am grateful to 100 Lives for helping to open doors for these bright and talented young women."
The statement also added that the scholarship winner will be based on "their exemplary academic performance and demonstrable interest in the promotion of human rights and international issues."
