A Northridge, Calif., home improvement store was evacuated Sunday night due to the potential sighting of suspected cop killer Christopher Dorner, just a few hours after law enforcement announced a $1 million reward being offered for information leading to the 33-year-old's arrest.

A command center was put together as helicopters flew overhead and police searched the Lowe's store, eventually letting shoppers know that they were allowed to leave the premises but couldn't yet take their cars out of the parking lot, according to ABC News.

LAPD spokesman Gus Villaneuva said the major response to the potential Dorner sighting was a precaution, but couldn't say for sure whether or not the suspect was actually in the vicinity.

The announcement of the $1 million reward came after authorities in Big Bear, Calif., stated that they'd be cutting back on their search for Dorner, a bitter former policeman who allegedly killed three people for revenge.

"This is the largest local reward ever offered, to our knowledge. This is an act of domestic terrorism. This is a man who has targeted those that we entrust to protect the public. His actions cannot go unanswered," Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck said at a news conference.

The bounty for Dorner was put together by the U.S. government, business establishments, local law enforcement leaders and individual donors, Beck said. The respective reward comes on the fourth day of a manhunt for the missing killer, who has put Southern California in a state of panic after going on a killing spree last week to avenge his termination from the police force.

In a 6,000 word 'manifesto' that surfaced on the Internet on Feb. 9, Dorner said he would keep up with the killings until the truth is known about his unfair case.
