Virtual Reality is a market that is soaring and 2016 will likely be the year that these headsets take over the wearables niche. According to Ubergizmo, Asus is ready to launch a virtual reality headset to be used as an accessory for its line of gaming notebook computers. While the Taiwan based company is gearing up to throw its hat into the ring, Gigabyte Technology is partnering up with 3Glasses to make its virtual reality vision come true.

The Gear VR headset collaboration device from Samsung and Oculus is a hit among consumers. Since virtual reality is all about immersing viewers into a 360 degree experience via apps and exclusive content, Samsung recently teamed up with basketball superstar LeBron James. Bringing the athlete's personal preseason training documentary to Gear VR owners, Samsung aims to keep apps and movies fresh and innovative.

Industry analysts predict that even more notebook manufacturers will shift their direction towards virtual reality market this coming new year. Notebook and laptop sales are less than stellar with the popularity of ultrabooks and hybrid notebooks on the rise. With the new year upon us, we are expecting new VR headsets to come our way--and from some of the biggest tech heavyweights around. Next year will see the arrival of the HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and the Sony Playstation VR. While no specifics were revealed or confirmed by Asus or Gigabyte Technology, the two companies are expected to launch VR headsets by June 2016. If we are to believe the rumors, prospective VR buyers will have quite a few devices and content on the market choose from.
