Best 'General Hospital' Storylines 2015: From Jason To Fluke, Shocking Murders & Custody Battles, What Stood Out? [VIDEO]
2015 has officially come to a close in Port Charles, and General Hospital made sure to bring some shocking storylines to the forefront and to put some conclusions on mysteries that had been dragging on throughout 2014.
From bringing more unexpected characters back from the dead, to investigating mysteries of the past and introducing more than a few new troublemakers on the scene, Port Charles was the place to be for nonstop drama in 2015.
Here are our 10 picks for the best stories the soap unveiled over the course of the year:
The Jake Is Jason Reveal
It took until November before everyone in Port Charles learned that Hake Doe (Billy Miller) was really Jason Morgan back from the dead. For months no one in Port Charles really had a clue except for Nikolas (Tyler Christopher)--an eventually, Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). The two continually schemed to keep the truth a secret after the Nurses' Ball, but Jake's curiosity and determination to learn who he was finally exposed the truth on what was supposed to be his wedding day to Elizabeth. Within a month, the rest of the truth was exposed as well, and as resulted in Jason dumping Elizabeth, and Nikolas taking a nasty fall off the terrace of the Metro Court following an altercation with Jason. He has yet to reunite with Sam (Kelly Monaco) however, which fans will hopefully see happen in 2016.
Laura's Return
After some time away, Laura finally came back to Port Charles under mysterious circumstances that included her busting up Luke's (Anthony Geary) engagement to Tracy (Jane Elliott). It was quickly revealed she was back to get his help to save Lucky from a resurrected Frank Smith. Since that return, she had been embroiled in the Jason identity scandal as well.
Denise=Ava
After she appeared to die from a combined gunshot wound and falling off of a bridge into the river below, Ava (Maura West) was revealed to be alive and secretly in Silas' care in New York City. But the good news about her recovery didn't last long because she was dying of cancer. She then appeared to die, leaving Port Charles without yet another member of the mob. But when a dark-haired doppelganger with a Brooklyn accent named Denise DeMuccio showed up in town claiming to be her long-lost twin sister, trouble started. And after Silas (Michael Easton) was murdered not long after he caught her in bed with Morgan (Bryan Craig) and threatened to tell Kiki (Hayley Erin), the truth came out-Ava never died, and came back to town posing as Denise to be close to her daughters without having to serve time for her past crimes.
Little Jake Is Alive
One of the most unexpected shockers predating Luke's departure from town was the reveal that the grandson he thought he had killed by running over him with a car while drunk was actually alive and well-and had been held captive on Cassadine Island the entire time.
Fluke Is Finally Revealed
Fans had been waiting for over a year to find out who was impersonating Luke Spencer and running the Jerome crime business, but eventually, the truth came out and Luke was revealed to be suffering from a split personality which surfaced because of his guilt over killing both his parents as a teen.
Dante Cheats On Lulu With Valerie
They were one of the only stable couples in Port Charles, but Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and Lulu's (Emme Rylan) marriage was rocked to its core in 2015 when Dante cheated on his wife with her newfound cousin Valerie (Brytni Sarpi). The two managed to keep the affair a secret from Lulu until Halloween, but after the truth came out the marriage imploded. As of New Year's the two are not back together.
Duke & Silas Are Both Murdered In Cold Blood
Unfortunately, some big characters in Port Charles didn't get to live to see 2015 come to an end. Both Duke Lavery (Ian Buchanan) and Silas Clay (Michael Easton) were killed, leaving behind devastated loved ones. Duke was shot to death by Carlos as a part of the escalating mob wars just after the Nurse's Ball, and Silas was murdered by his former mother-in-law with a knife to the back.
Avery Is Shuffled From Home To Home
She's barely a year old, but poor Avery's life has seen her kidnapped twice, and shuffled from home to home with a large number of caretakers. First, Michael (Chad Duell) battled his father, Sonny (Maurice Benard) for custody of his sister. Then, he lost custody when Kiki and Morgan set him up and they watched over her. Sonny was eventually given custody again until Ava resurfaced and successfully battled to win control of her daughter.
Maxie Chooses Between Nathan And Spinelli
After fighting to be together against all odds, Maxie (Kirsten Storms) and Nathan (Ryan Paevy) finally got their chance in 2015. But not long after, her ex, Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) came back to town and confused Maxie when he put up a fight to try and win her back. Maxie did briefly choose to reunite with Spinelli, but it didn't last long before she and Nathan were finally back together.
Luke Leaves Port Charles
After a tumultuous year that saw him finally confront his demons, rescue his son from being kidnapped and bring his grandson back from the dead, Luke decided what he needed more than anything was to leave Port Charles behind for good.
