Rupert Grint as Superhero, 'Harry Potter' Star Has Role in New CBS Comedy Pilot
Following his success in the Harry Potter series, actor Rupert Grint will be the lead character in a new CBS comedy pilot called Super Clyde, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The United Kingdom native will play the role of Clyde, described as a "well-meaning and sweet yet slightly neurotic guy who never feels like he really fits in. The character is a fast-food worker who decides to become a super hero. He is an "avid" comic book reader who also has mild to sever anxiety issues and considers himself "borderline agoraphobic."
When Clyde gets a $100,000 a month inheritance from his dead Uncle Bill, he decides that the newly gained money will be his super power in the sense that he will use it only for good.
The single-camera CBS pilot will be written and executivly produced by Greg Garcia (Raising Hope). Mike Fresco from Raising Hope and My Name is Earl will direct the pilot.
The show marks Grint's first series role on a television series. He rose to fame for starring in all eight Harry Potter films. The 24-year-old also provided voice for video games based on the Potter series, a film adaptation of the novels written by J.K. Rowling, and had action figures of his character Ron Weasley.
