The trial for Jodi Arias, the woman who stands accused for the 2008 Arizona murder of her ex-boyfriend Travis Alexander, was canceled on Thursday, Feb. 14.

Judge Sherry Stephens was out sick, according to a spokesperson. The trial is expected to resume on Feb. 19 because the courts are closed on Monday for President's Day.

Arias would have returned to the witness stand for the seventh time

Arias is charged in the 2008 brutal death of her ex-boyfriend Travis Alexander in Mesa. where she stabbed and slashed him 27 times and shot him in the head. Arias lied at first, saying he was killed during a home invasion, and later admitted she killed Alexander as an act of self-defense.

If she is convicted of first degree murder, she faces the death penalty, becoming the fourth woman in Arizona's history to die by lethal injection.

Arias testified in the last six days on the witness stand. She claimed that Alexander cheated on her, beat her, used her for sex and alleged that he was a pedophile.

On Monday Arias shocked the courtroom with several new allegations. She testified that in January 2008 she caught Alexander masturbating to a photo of a young boy wearing underwear, and that he physically assaulted her and penetrated her vaginally for the first time as she slept in his bed the year after she was baptized in his Mormon church. Arias shared that Alexander's 2007 Valentine's Day gift to her were pairs of boy's Spider-Man underwear.

Arias said Alexander gave her a three-pack of boys' Spider-Man underwear and that when she tried to put them on, they didn't fit so she made alterations so she could wear them for him. They then had anal sex while she wore the underwear.

During Arias' fifth day on the witness stand, Tuesday, her defense attorneys' played explicit phone conversations between Arias and her victim that included phone sex that she secretly recorded. The chats took place in May of 2008 - less than a month before Arias murdered Alexander.

On Wednesday, Arias testified that she had threatened her ex-lover- she told him that she would tell people he was a pedophile.

"The only thing I'll be spitting out is the fact that you're a pedophile," Arias said she told the 30-year-old Mormon, according to HLNTV.
