Harry Styles on Taylor Swift Break Up & Rumors: 'It Is What It Is'
During a promotional interview with his band One Direction, Harry Styles opened up about his breakup with Taylor Swift and how he is feeling now that he is single once more.
The band had a radio interview with London's Capital FM studio on Feb. 17 to talk about their new song One Way or Another but the conversation turned to Styles, 19, and how his life has been like since his January breakup with Swift, 23. The two reportedly split on Jan. 4 following a heated dispute they had while vacationing together on the Virgin Islands.
"I'm okay, thank you for asking," Styles said when asked how he has been since his breakup, "I'm good."
Swift was the opening act at the Grammy Awards on Feb. 10. She performed We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together and was rumored to mock Styles when she put on a fake British accent for part of the song. When the rumors were addressed during his radio interview, Styles used the topic of discussion as an opportunity to compliment Swift for her ability to perform.
"She's a great performer and she always performs great. She's always good on the stage," Style said. "She's been doing it a long time. She knows what she's doing on stage. It was just another good Taylor Swift performance. It was good."
With the media spewing out reports about their breakup, Styles added that he does not mind the extra attention because "I understand why people would wanna know stuff like that, I get it.
"If someone does stuff like that then I wanna know about it, too," he said. "I guess it just kind of. . . It is what it is, I guess."
Both artists will attend and are nominated at the BRIT Awards this week in London. Styles will take to the stage with his band for a performance in a turn of events after the NRJ Music Awards in France in late January, where Swift performed Never Ever as Styles looked on.
