'Outlander' Season 2: Prepare For 'Backstabbing & Poison', Jamie & Claire Raise The Stakes [VIDEO]
Outlander may have been unjustly snubbed at the Golden Globes, but that doesn't mean the season 2 premiere won't pack a punch.
'Outlander' Season 2: Jamie Pulls A Knife On Claire! Brand New Paris Clips Released
Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) are ready to buck history. The time traveler and the Highlander are out to save Scotland, and their mission will throw them into an entirely different world. Get ready to trade kilts and castles for deception and glamour.
"It's more politics and backstabbing and poison," Heughan said at the 2016 Television Critics Association press tour, according to TV Insider. "It's more hidden. There's a lot of politics at work..."
Unfortunately for the couple, they are about to walk into uncharted territory. Lying and manipulation do not come easy to the Scotsman and the Sassenach, and they are about to be buried in deceit.
"Neither of them feel very comfortable in this role of suspicion and being two faced and doubled sided," Balfe said in a season 2 featurette.
If the pair succeeds in thwarting the Battle of Culloden and the Jacobite involvement, the result will be a major boon to the clans.
"The stakes are enormous," executive producer Ron Moore teased. "We're talking about tens of thousands of lives, we're talking about the future of the entire Scottish culture."
Outlander will return to Starz in April.
