Lady Gaga has been confined to a wheelchair following emergency surgery on her hip due to her recent diagnosis of synovitis condition, which she announced on Feb. 12. The 26-year-old tweeted a picture of her wheelchair to prove how real her illness is.

"This is Emma," tweeted the Edge of Glory singer with a picture attached of her new contraption on Feb. 16.

Gaga has been forced to cancel 25 concert dates on her Born This Way Ball tour due to the unpredictable joint-swelling ailment.

Lady Gaga explained the situation in a series of tweets on Feb. 12.

"There's an unfortunate announcement coming out right now, concerning myself and the Born This Ball. Im so sorry. I barely know what to say," she began on Twitter.

"I've been hiding a show injury and chronic pain for some time now, and over the past month it has worsened. I've been praying it would heal....I hid it from my staff. I didn't want to disappoint my amazing fans. However, after last night's performance I could not walk and still can't..." she wrote.

"To the fans in Chicago Detroit & Hamilton I hope you can forgive me, as it is nearly impossible for me to forgive myself. Im devastated & sad...It will hopefully heal as soon as possible. I hate this. I hate this so much. I love you and I'm sorry."

Later, one of Gaga's assistants would tweet on her behalf that her doctor had "ordered" her to postpone her show in Chicago and Detroit due to "severe inflammation of the joints."

Live Nation confirmed the cancellation of the rest of her tour in a statement on her website.

"After additional tests this morning to review the severity of the issue, it has been determined that Lady Gaga has a labral tear of the right hip. She will need surgery to repair the problem, followed by strict down time to recover."
