Actor Seth MacFarlane will host the Academy Awards on Feb. 24 and admitted that preparations for the big night are somewhat strenuous, according to CBS News.

Going into his first time hosting the ceremony, MacFarlane also admitted that it will most probably be his last - he said it is "very likely" that Tina Fey and Amy Poehler (the duo that hosted the Golden Globes) will be the 2014 hosts. The 39-year-old continues to voice characters in Family Guy, the series he created, and American Dad while preparing for the show on Feb. 24. He said it is "very vocally taxing" because there is a lot of screaming and yelling he is required to do, which has left him "a little exhausted."

MacFarlane directed, co-produced, co-wrote and co-starred in Ted alongside Mark Wahlberg, which became the highest-grossing original R-rated comedic film of all time, according to The Washington Post.

"His performing skills blend perfectly with our ideas for making the show entertaining and fresh," said Academy Award producers, Craig Zadan and Neil Meron.

Past Oscar hosts include Billy Crystal, James Franco with Anne Hathaway, David Letterman, Steve Martin with Alec Baldwin, Hugh Jackman, Ellen DeGeneres, Whoopi Goldberg and Chris Rock. The most-watched Oscar show remains the 1998 ceremony when Titanic was nominated for Best Picture. More than 55 million viewers tuned in to see it win.

About his sometimes-controversial jokes (The Atlantic Wire said he acted like a "jerk" when announcing the Oscar nominees) MacFarlane told E! Entertainment the following:

"Hollywood is a town of very well-to-do folks who live very comfortably. They have a very comfortable lifestyle, they do what they love, there's not much that is bad in their life. So they should be able to laugh at themselves. If they can't, it's a rather sad thing."

MacFarlane is up for an award at the Oscars. He wrote the lyrics for Everybody Needs A Best Friend from his movie Ted.

The 85th annual Academy Awards airs live on Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. ET.
