Chandler Jones was hospitalized over the weekend, and reports claim the ordeal was the result of a drug overdose.

According to one of the latest reports, via Chris Curtis, producer of WEEI’s Dennis & Callahan Show, the New England Patriots' defensive lineman overdosed on pills on Saturday night, and was taken to the Norwood Hospital in Massachusetts.

"Curtis reports, citing unnamed police sources, that Jones overdosed on pills on Saturday night," NBC Sports' Pro Football Talk reported on Tuesday.

Although the identity of the alleged pills has not yet been revealed, the report claimed Jones could be "subject to NFL action if the substance has been banned by the NFL."

"Automatic suspension would arise only if the compound is a PED," Pro Football Talk explained. "For street drugs, an initial violation would result at worst in placement in the league’s substance-abuse program, along with enhanced testing. Multiple violations typically are required before a suspension occurs."

While the report by WEEI initially claimed Jones' reported overdose occurred at teammate Rob Gronkowski’s house, their tweet has since been deleted.

The New England Patriots will take on the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday, Jan. 16, at 4:35 p.m. at the Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass. So far, there has been no confirmed news of whether or not Jones will be playing during the game.
