Catelynn Lowell is opening up about her struggles with post-partum depression.
In a new interview, the newly married Teen Mom OG star revealed she's been seeing a doctor for her “mind-crippling” symptoms, which will be seen as the new season continues to air.
“I didn’t really know and I still don’t know what’s going on with my postpartum,” Lowell told Life & Style, via a report by Radar Online on Wednesday. “For a while I felt fine, but I’ve always suffered from depression, anxiety and panic attacks.”
Was Catelynn Lowell & Tyler Baltierra's Wedding Filmed For A 'Teen Mom OG' Episode?
After welcoming her first child, Carly, in 2009, and choosing adoption for the child, Lowell and her now-husband, Tyler Baltierra, had a second child, Novalee Reign, born on Jan. 1 of last year, and following the birth, Lowell experienced a dark time, which fans are now seeing on the show. Luckily, however, months later, Lowell is doing much better.
To treat her condition, Lowell has been taking prescribed antidepressants, and credits Baltierra with "lifting her up."
“Tyler is my backbone and helps me a lot,” she said. “He pushes me and will make me do things like go for a walk so [the depression] goes away.”
In previews for the upcoming episodes of Teen Mom OG, Baltierra's mom can be seen asking her son, “Is she going through some kind of postpartum?”
