After news broke that the creators of The Good Wife are set to stop writing for the show after season 7, rumours about this chapter being the last have taken over.

Glee's Matthew Morrison Joins Cast For Season 7

Deadline recently explored the possibility with CBS Entertainment President Glenn Geller. According to Geller the Kings leaving did not imply that this would be end of the critically acclaimed legal drama, revealing that they had a lot of rich talent to tap into.

"The Kings did say they would not be returning after this year, but we have a deep bench on the show," he said.

Could Hillary Clinton Guest Star In An Upcoming Episode?

He went on to hint that the fate of the show depended on the new projects CBS will be trying out. So somewhere the continuation of the show was also linked to the success of upcoming pilots. Geller suggested that after considering the new pilots they will take a decision, and The Good Wife "can certainly continue."

When asked if they had a vision for the series going forward, Geller said they weren't quite sure about that. "We haven't discussed what the series would look like, what next season would be," Geller said.

Geller also addressed questions surrounding why the Kings were moving on from The Good Wife.

"I think it's combination of things," Geller said. "They want to work on new things."

The next episode, titled 'Tracks,' will air on January 17 on CBS.
