Cynthia Bailey has managed to steer clear of the drama on this season of Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Atlanta ever since her showdown with Porsha Williams. But now she is facing controversy of her own after a scene between her and her daughter aired on the show Sunday night.

Bailey and her only child, 16-year-old Noelle Robinson, had a really candid conversation on the series. Bailey was preparing for a romantic getaway with husband Peter Thomas amid their marital woes.

Bailey told Noelle what was going on between her and her stepfather, as Noelle helped Bailey pack for the trip, encouraging her to put revealing lingerie in her suitcase.

After getting a little backlash from fans for being too friendly with her daughter, Bailey set the record straight.

She told Bravo earlier this week, “I am Noelle’s mother. Like any child, she just wants me to be happy. We have an amazing relationship and are very close. I strive to be as honest with her as possible and age appropriate.”

She added that she and Noelle’s father, actor Leon, “continue to raise her to be an independent thinker.”

She went on to say that Noelle has her best interest at heart and “is concerned about my well-being as much as I am about hers.”

Bailey then pointed out that Noelle would know about her and Thomas’ issues even if they never talked about it.

“Unfortunately, there are a lot of tasteless, hurtful rumors all over social media and the Internet regarding my marriage. It is impossible to safeguard her from these two powerful media outlets. I am forced to have conversations with her I would not normally have to engage her in, if my marriage was not in the public eye.”
