With Rajon Rondo out due to a ACL injury, the Boston Celtics held no secret of needing a guard. According to ESPN, the team is looking to acquire Sacramento Kings' Tyreke Evans before Thursday's trade deadline.

The Kings on Wednesday traded 2012 first-round draft pick Thomas Robinson, veteran swingman Francisco Garcia, forward Tyler Honeycutt and a second-round draft pick to the Houston Rockets for forward Patrick Patterson, center Cole Aldrich and guard Toney Douglas.

Garcia was the 23rd overall pick by the Kings in 2005 out of Louisville. In the Kings' Sacramento era, he is fifth in games (462), seventh in blocked shots (343) and ninth in steals (391). He is averaging 5.2 points this season and 8.3 for his career.

With Garcia's departure, Jason Thompson will be the King's longest-tenured player. Thompson is only in his fifth season.

The Kings also will receive $1 million from the Rockets. Of the three players acquired, only Patterson is under contract beyond this season.

However, the Kings are still among the active teams in the NBA leading up to the trade deadline. The latest rumor is that may trade the No. 4 overall pick in the 2009 NBA draft, Evans whose set to be a restricted free agent at the end of the season.

Marc Stein of ESPN broke the news via twitter

"Latest word out of Boston: Celtics making deadline-day run at player they've pursued before ... Tyreke Evans "

So far for the 2012-2013 season, Evans has averaged 15.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.4 steals in 31.1 minutes a night for the Kings, but many have questioned if whether or not the 23-year-old former NBA Rookie of the Year has been part of the problem in Sacramento who holds a 19-36 record.

Evans was expected to become a leading player after winning the Rookie of the Year Award in 2009, but he has been unable to take the next step in Sacramento.

The Kings are scheduled to play the Atlanta Hawks on Friday. Coach Keith Smart is expected to meet with the team after missing Wednesday's practice.
